A Guide to Hosting Events in Singapore
A rooftop 50 storeys above Marina Bay and a heritage shophouse in Chinatown set completely different tones, and they're ten minutes apart on the MRT. That range, packed into a city-state where everything runs on time, is what makes Singapore rewarding, and easy to get wrong if you book Grand Prix week by accident.
Data updated July 2026, based on Singapore events priced by Eventflare, its 51-city cost benchmark (7,006 priced line items) and live Eventflare listings.
This guide is built on our own numbers: 409+ venues on Eventflare and real priced Singapore proposals, drawn from the 58,000+ event requests Eventflare has handled. Which districts suit which formats, what you'll really pay, for the venue and the whole event, and the quirks that trip people up. One note upfront: all figures are in USD, converted from our EUR-priced proposals at €1 ≈ $1.14 (July 2026); venues on the ground quote in SGD.
1) Types of Event Venues in Singapore
Singapore offers six signature venue styles: skyline rooftops, heritage shophouses, waterfront venues, garden and greenery spaces, modern conference floors, and concept venues, spanning 8-person boardrooms to 1,500-capacity halls.
Let's start with style and get to the finer details later. Here are the venue types your guests will remember:
- Skyline Rooftops: The CBD and Marina Bay deliver the money shot: infinity-edge terraces, sky bars and penthouse floors with the harbour lights below. Most hold 60 to 250 standing. Two cautions: tropical downpours arrive fast, insist on a wet-weather plan, and rooftop bars near residential towers carry sound limits.
- Heritage Shophouses: Chinatown, Little India, Bras Basah and Kampong Glam keep Singapore's 19th-century architecture: painted façades, airwells, timber shutters. Intimate and photogenic for 20 to 130 guests. Conservation status limits rigging, and narrow frontages complicate load-in, plan deliveries early.
- Waterfront Venues: Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay and the River Valley stretch line the Singapore River with terraces and event decks, while Sentosa adds beachside pavilions. Great for receptions of 50 to 600; humidity means fans or misting for anything outdoors.
- Garden & Greenery Venues: Dempsey Hill's colonial barracks-turned-dining enclave and park-adjacent pavilions trade skyline for rainforest canopy. The city in a garden is real, and it photographs beautifully for 50 to 300 guests.
- Modern Conference Floors: The CBD, Bras Basah and Jurong keep Singapore's corporate infrastructure: hybrid-ready auditoriums, modular halls up to 800, and some of the world's most reliable AV backbone. If tech readiness matters more than character, start here.
- Concept & Experiential Spaces: Converted power stations, art-deco cinemas, hawker-style event halls, Singapore's newer venues lean experiential. Ideal for launches where the space is the story.
2) Singapore Event Venues by District
The CBD / Downtown core has the most venues (67), Jurong hosts the biggest average capacity (252 guests), and heritage districts like Chinatown offer the most characterful small formats.
Singapore is compact, but the district still matters: it sets the vibe, the capacity band, and how your guests arrive. Here's the island with live Eventflare data from our 409+ Singapore listings. Note that most Singapore venues price on request, only 22 of 409 listings publish a day rate, so we show capacity data throughout and day rates only where enough listings publish them.
Based on 409 published Singapore venues analysed (Eventflare, July 2026)
| District | What the Area Is Like | Venues | Avg. Day Rate | Avg. Capacity | Max Capacity |
| CBD / Downtown | Marina Bay & Raffles Place. Sky bars, conference floors, the skyline addresses. | 67 | $5,450 | 92 | 850 |
| Orchard | The retail spine. Hotel ballrooms, showrooms, polished mid-size spaces. | 19 | On request | 93 | 340 |
| River Valley | Clarke Quay & Robertson Quay. Riverside terraces and dining venues. | 19 | On request | 128 | 600 |
| Chinatown | Shophouse country. Heritage rooms, intimate dining, characterful small formats. | 18 | On request | 56 | 130 |
| Little India | Colour and character. Shophouses, studios, creative spaces. | 17 | On request | 91 | 460 |
| Jurong | The western hub. Big flexible halls and the island's largest average capacity. | 14 | On request | 252 | 800 |
| Changi | Airport-adjacent east. Practical venues for fly-in, fly-out programmes. | 13 | On request | 142 | 350 |
| Dempsey / Tanglin | Colonial barracks in the greenery. Garden dining and lifestyle venues. | 13 | On request | 99 | 300 |
| Bras Basah | The arts and civic district. Museums, heritage halls, campus spaces. | 12 | On request | 78 | 225 |
| Beach Road / Bugis | Kampong Glam's edge. Shophouses and modern towers side by side. | 10 | On request | 115 | 250 |
| Island-wide & other | Sentosa, Tengah, the heartlands & more, beach pavilions to neighbourhood halls. | 148 | $475–$8,000 | n/a | 600 |
Live Eventflare data, published venues only. The CBD average is based on 4 published day rates and should be treated as indicative; most Singapore venues quote on request. Capacity is the average of each venue's maximum. A further 59 listings are not yet mapped to a district.
Capacity also maps to venue type, here's where each format clusters.
| Venue Type | Seated Capacity | Standing / Reception | Where They Cluster |
| Meeting rooms | 8–30 boardroom, up to 80 classroom | n/a | CBD, Orchard, Changi |
| Conference venues | 50–500 | 100–850 | CBD, Bras Basah, Jurong |
| Workshop & seminar spaces | 15–100 | 30–150 | Little India, Bras Basah, CBD fringe |
| Private dining rooms | 10–80 | 20–130 cocktail | Chinatown, Dempsey, Orchard |
| After-work & cocktail venues | 30–150 | 50–600 | CBD rooftops, Clarke Quay, Beach Road |
| Heritage shophouses | 20–80 | 40–130 | Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam |
| Skyline rooftops | 40–150 | 60–250 | CBD, Marina Bay, Beach Road |
| Garden & outdoor venues | 50–200 | 80–600 | Dempsey / Tanglin, Sentosa, River Valley |
| Big-format halls | 200–800 | 400–1,500 | Jurong, CBD, island-wide |
One thing that catches people out: Singapore regulates events precisely. Amplified music, alcohol service and public entertainment each need their own licence, and conservation shophouses cap what you can rig. The system is efficient, but only if you apply in time, ask the venue what licences it already holds before you sign anything.
3) Singapore Event Venue Costs: Hourly & Day Rates
Published venue hire in Singapore runs $50–$3,700/hour depending on category, and roughly $475–$10,250/day, but most venues quote on request, only 30 of our 409 listings publish hourly rates, so treat the ranges below as indicative anchors rather than a full market map.
Three things drive venue pricing in this city more than anything else: skyline or river views, whether the building is conservation-listed, and whether your dates collide with the Formula 1 Grand Prix in September. Get the timing wrong and you could be paying 40% more, if you can get a room at all.
Venue Hourly Rates in Singapore (Eventflare Data)
Based on 409 published Singapore venues analysed (Eventflare, July 2026); 30 publish hourly rates, most quote on request
| Venue Type | Hourly Rate | Context |
| Meeting room rental in Singapore | avg $595 | Rates range $50–$1,500/hr. $50 is a compact room off the CBD; the top end is a serviced skyline boardroom. 11 priced listings. |
| Workshop spaces | avg $610 | Rates range $74–$1,500/hr. Studios around Little India and Bras Basah at the accessible end. 12 priced listings. |
| After-work & cocktail venues | avg $700 | Rates range $6–$1,600/hr. The $6 floor is a per-person-priced bar minimum; rooftops carry the premium. 16 priced listings. |
| Private dining venues | avg $1,000 | Rates range $115–$3,700/hr. Shophouse dining rooms at the accessible end, skyline penthouses at the top. 7 priced listings. |
| Conference venue hire | avg $740 | Rates range $215–$1,250/hr. Hybrid-ready floors in the CBD and Bras Basah. 5 priced listings. |
Singapore Venue Day Rates by Category
Based on 409 published Singapore venues analysed (Eventflare, July 2026); 22 publish day rates
| Category | Day Rate | What's Behind the Number |
| Meeting & workshop spaces | $475 – $9,450 | Compact studios at the low end; full-floor CBD spaces at the top. Median published rate ≈$5,250. |
| Reception & after-work venues | $3,200 – $10,250 | Riverside decks and rooftop floors for 100–600 standing. |
| Conference venues | $1,350 – $8,000 | Hybrid-ready halls; only 5 priced listings, most quote per programme. |
Singapore's market prices per programme more than per room: venue quotes usually bundle F&B minimums, especially in hotels and rooftop bars. Always ask what the minimum spend includes.
When Singapore Venue Prices Spike
In short: Singapore venue prices peak hard in September around the Formula 1 Grand Prix, when Marina Bay becomes the circuit and hotel and venue rates spike 40% or more, with elevated congress demand running through October and November. March–May is the steady MICE high season. Chinese New Year (January–February, dates shift yearly) and the December holidays are the opportunity windows: many corporates pause, and rates soften 15–20%, though some family-run venues and caterers close for CNY itself.
Three tips from the trenches: if your event lands anywhere near Grand Prix weekend, book 9–12 months out or move the date, the Marina Bay road closures alone reshape logistics citywide. Around CNY, confirm your caterer is operating before you sign the venue. And for rooftops, always contract a wet-weather fallback: the downpours are tropical and non-negotiable.
One more thing. Event services in Singapore carry GST at 9% across the board, there's no reduced catering rate as in Europe. Always check whether a quoted price includes GST, and whether hotel venues add a service charge (typically 10%) on top.
4) Full Event Costs in Singapore: Budget Breakdown
A full corporate event in Singapore costs anywhere from $2,050 for a 30-person workshop to $20,500 for a 100-person conference, and the venue is 31–36% of that bill, a higher share than in European cities, because Singapore venue hire is dear while catering is comparatively affordable.
We know this because we price it every week, across the 58,000+ event requests Eventflare has handled and a 51-city benchmark of 7,000+ priced cost items. The average priced Singapore proposal comes to $12,750 (median $9,500 across 58 proposals). Here's how that money actually breaks down.
Singapore Event Costs by Format (All-In)
Based on Singapore events priced by Eventflare in the last 12 months and its 51-city benchmark (7,006 line items)
| Event Format | Group Size | Total All-In | Per Person |
| Conference (full day) | 100 | $7,440 – $20,500 | $74 – $205 |
| Cocktail party (3 hrs) | 80 | $4,800 – $13,350 | $60 – $165 |
| Networking event (2–3 hrs) | 60 | $2,400 – $6,750 | $40 – $110 |
| Workshop (half–full day) | 30 | $2,050 – $5,600 | $68 – $185 |
Ranges are low–high for a mid-market event in central Singapore, in USD (converted at €1 ≈ $1.14, July 2026), ex-GST. Treat them as planning anchors, not quotes.
Singapore Conference Cost Breakdown (100 Guests)
Based on Singapore events priced by Eventflare in the last 12 months and its 51-city benchmark (7,006 line items)
| Cost Component | Range | Average | Share of Budget |
| Venue hire | $2,300 – $7,400 | $4,850 | 31–36% |
| Catering (F&B) | $2,850 – $6,850 | $4,850 | 33–38% |
| Audio-visual | $1,150 – $2,850 | $2,000 | 14–15% |
| Logistics & staff | $570 – $1,700 | $1,150 | 8% |
| Branding & decor | $570 – $1,700 | $1,150 | 8% |
| Total (all-in) | $7,440 – $20,500 | $14,000 | 100% |
Singapore inverts the European pattern. In Paris or Amsterdam, catering dominates and the venue is 15–25% of spend. In Singapore, venue hire and catering run neck and neck, the median venue line item we price here is $3,550 while the median catered meal is just $27 per person. Budget accordingly: negotiate the venue hard, because the F&B is already good value.
Catering Costs Per Person in Singapore
Based on 93 priced Singapore catering line items (Eventflare, last 12 months)
| Service Type | Price ($/person) | What's Included |
| Working lunch (buffet) | $11 – $46 | Local or international buffet, sides, soft drinks |
| Cocktail reception (2h) | $23 – $57 | Canapés and bar service |
| Seated dinner, mid | $46 – $68 | 3 courses, wine, service |
| Seated dinner, premium | $68 – $115 | 4 courses, sommelier, plating |
| Gala dinner (full service) | $115+ | Multi-course, wine pairings, entertainment; tops out near $235/person in our data |
The median catered meal we price in Singapore lands at $27 per person, with drinks packages at a median of $24 per person, hawker heritage keeps even corporate catering honest. The counterweight: alcohol is expensive here, so bar-heavy formats climb fast.
AV & Production Costs in Singapore
Based on 16 priced Singapore AV & production line items (Eventflare, last 12 months); a small sample, treat ranges as indicative
| Package Level | Range | What's Included |
| Basic | $400 – $1,050 | PA system, 1 screen, 2 wireless mics, basic room lighting |
| Mid-range | $1,150 – $2,600 | Multi-screen setup, sound desk with technician, stage lighting |
| Full production | $2,850 – $5,150 | LED wall, filming, crew, rigging & staging in our data; larger builds via external suppliers exceed this |
Build your budget in this order: (1) lock venue capacity and hire cost first, in Singapore this is the line to negotiate, (2) estimate catering at $/person × headcount, (3) scope AV based on format ambition, venues here often have strong in-house kit, ask before renting, (4) add 8% for logistics & staff, (5) add 8% for branding & decor, (6) hold 10% contingency.
5) Singapore vs Paris, London & Berlin: Event Costs Compared
Singapore runs 50–60% below Paris on a like-for-like all-in basis, its affordable catering offsets premium venue hire. For international organisers choosing between global hubs, here's the same mid-market event compared.
Based on Eventflare's 51-city benchmark (7,006 line items analysed) and recent Singapore proposals priced by Eventflare
| Cost Line | Singapore | Paris | London | Berlin |
| Venue (full day) | $2.3–7.4K | $3.4–9.1K | $4.6–13.7K | $1.7–5.7K |
| Catering /person | $29–60 | $97–150 | $91–130 | $57–80 |
| AV (mid-range) | $1.1–2.9K | $3.4–9.1K | $4.6–11.4K | $2.3–5.7K |
| Total, 100-guest conference (excl. hotel) | $6.3–17.1K | $16.5–35.3K | $18.2–39.9K | $9.7–20.5K |
| Cost per person (100 guests) | $63–150 | $165–310 | $180–350 | $97–180 |
The structure differs, not just the level: Singapore's venue hire approaches Paris pricing while its catering runs at a third of Paris rates, so venue-light, F&B-heavy formats (dinners, receptions) are where Singapore shines. Add English-language contracts, Changi's connectivity and the region's most reliable logistics, and it's Asia's lowest-friction event hub. The caveats: Grand Prix week in September behaves like London on price, alcohol-heavy bars climb fast, and hotel rooms cost more than the European comparison suggests.
6) 5 Tips for Planning a Corporate Event in Singapore
1. MRT Access & Venue Location
Singapore venues near interchange stations, Raffles Place / Marina Bay (CBD), City Hall / Bras Basah, Orchard, make life effortless for delegates: trains run to the minute and Changi is 30 minutes from the centre on the East West line or 20 by taxi. Grab is the ride-hailing default. Dempsey and Sentosa are the exceptions, neither is MRT-adjacent, so budget shuttles for anything there.
2. Grand Prix & CNY Booking Windows
Check the calendar before you pick a date: the Formula 1 Grand Prix (September) block-books Marina Bay hotels and venues 9–12 months ahead and closes roads across the downtown core. Chinese New Year (January–February, dates shift yearly) is the opposite problem: rates soften but some venues and caterers close for the holiday. If your dates are flexible, the weeks either side of both windows are the easiest savings available.
3. Venue Contracts, Licensing & Minimum Spends
Contracts are in English and the legal system is famously predictable, Singapore is Asia's lowest-friction market for international organisers. The local quirks are licences and minimums: alcohol service needs a liquor licence, live or amplified entertainment needs a Public Entertainment Licence from the police, and hotel and rooftop venues usually quote F&B minimum spends rather than room hire. Ask what licences the venue already holds and what the minimum includes.
4. Event Permits in Singapore
Outdoor events in parks fall under NParks, Sentosa has its own approval process, and anything on public roads needs police clearance. Drone footage requires CAAS authorisation, and most of central Singapore, near the airport and downtown, is restricted airspace. The system is efficient but literal: build 6 to 10 weeks of lead time and apply exactly as specified.
5. Sustainable Event Venues in Singapore
The Singapore Green Plan 2030 has pushed the venue scene hard on certification: Green Mark buildings, food-waste programmes and single-use-plastic reduction are increasingly standard. If sustainability matters to your brand, and increasingly it matters to attendees, ask venues for their Green Mark rating and food-waste policy early in the search, the garden venues around Dempsey and the newer CBD towers lead the way.

FAQ about Singapore venues and events
How much does it cost to host a corporate event in Singapore?
The average priced Singapore event proposal comes to $12,750 (median $9,500), based on 58 priced Singapore proposals over the last 12 months. All-in: a 100-person full-day conference runs $7,440–$20,500; an 80-person cocktail party $4,800–$13,350; a 60-person networking event $2,400–$6,750; a 30-person workshop $2,050–$5,600. Unusually, venue hire is the joint-biggest line item at 31–36% of the total, catering here is comparatively affordable. See section 4 for the full breakdown.
How much does event catering cost per person in Singapore?
Working lunch: $11–$46/person. Cocktail reception: $23–$57. Seated dinner: $46–$68 mid-range, $68–$115 premium. Full-service gala dinners run $115+ per person, topping out near $235 in our data. Based on 93 priced Singapore catering line items from the last 12 months; the median catered meal is $27 per person. Note that alcohol is expensive in Singapore, so bar-heavy formats climb fast.
How much does AV cost for an event in Singapore?
A basic package (sound + one screen) runs $400–$1,050. Mid-range multi-screen setups with a technician cost $1,150–$2,600. Full production runs $2,850–$5,150 in our data, with larger external builds exceeding this (based on 16 priced Singapore AV & production line items, a small sample). Many Singapore venues have strong in-house AV, ask what's included before renting.
. Is Singapore cheaper than European cities for events?
On an all-in basis, yes: a mid-market 100-guest conference totalling $6,250–$17,100 in Singapore would cost $16,550–$35,350 in Paris and $18,250–$39,900 in London. The structure differs though: Singapore venue hire approaches European pricing while catering runs at roughly a third of Paris rates. Grand Prix week in September is the exception, when rates spike citywide. See section 5 for the full comparison.
What are the popular months for hosting events in Singapore?
Singapore runs events year-round, but March–May and October–November are the steady MICE high seasons. September is dominated by the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the biggest price spike of the year. Chinese New Year (January–February) and the December holidays are the cheapest windows, though some venues and caterers close for CNY itself.
6. What is the average lead time required for booking a popular event space in Singapore?
For big events, start the booking process 6–12 months ahead; for mid-sized gatherings, 3–6 months; for a small get-together, 3 months should do the trick. The exception is anything near Grand Prix weekend in September, where Marina Bay hotels and venues block-book 9–12 months ahead.
Are there any language considerations for hosting an event in Singapore?
Almost none: English is Singapore's working language, contracts and site visits included, which makes it Asia's lowest-friction market for international organisers. Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages, useful for multilingual programmes.
Are there any local event planning services available in Singapore?
Yes, you're talking to one right now! We have a dedicated production team in Singapore, part of Eventflare's global network that has delivered events from 58,000+ requests worldwide. Our local experts assist with venue selection, logistics, vendor coordination, and local licensing.
What is the GST rate for event services in Singapore?
GST is 9% across all event services, there's no reduced catering rate as in Europe. Hotel venues typically add a 10% service charge on top. Always confirm whether your quote includes GST and service charge, it's the most common source of budget surprises.
Are there any additional permits or licenses required for hosting certain types of events in Singapore?
Alcohol service needs a liquor licence and live or amplified entertainment needs a Public Entertainment Licence from the police. Outdoor events in parks fall under NParks, Sentosa has its own approvals, and drone filming requires CAAS authorisation, with most of central Singapore restricted. Allow 6–10 weeks for any permit-dependent element. See our planning tips section for detail.
