31 August 2022Updated 02 October 2023Welcome, one and all, to our guide to the best areas in Dubai for hosting events.
Even if you’re just going for a vacation, don’t go anywhere. We’ve got actionable advice for everyone down below.
Dubai is an exciting place, with a diversity of neighbourhoods to suit any event you might be planning.
So get reading, and enjoy. And keep your eyes peeled for bonus expert advice along the way!
1. Old Dubai
Our first neighbourhood in Dubai for your consideration is the old town. If you’re looking for a location with sincere historical charm, this is the place for you.
You’ll see wind towers, tight, winding and twisting streets, authentic and lively souks (markets), stone courtyards, and charming squares.
The old town is also a district of Dubai where the water of Dubai Creek runs. At this beautiful waterside vantage point, you’ll see nostalgic and grand-looking dhows (Arabic sailboats) making their way up and down the Creek.
Plus, Old Dubai is chock full of fascinating museums and cultural spaces. One of our favourites is the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. And while you and your guests are there, it’s a great chance to enjoy traditional Emirati cuisine and relax at one of the many boutique hotels in the area.
2. Downtown
In contrast to our first district of Dubai, our next location is shiny and new. If that sounds like a bit of you, then say hello to Downtown. It’s an area of Dubai that expresses the city’s modern identity. This is the epicentre of Dubai’s power and activity.
Many of the city’s landmarks are here – like the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Then you have other famous attractions like the Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, ice rink, underwater zoo, and the mesmerising Dubai Fountain.
If you’re interested in luxury hotels and restaurants, then you’ll love Downtown. And as for hosting your event here, the venues in this area are some of the sleekest and most modern in the world. To host your event here makes a big statement about your company and its stature.
3. Jumeirah
Now, how about one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in Dubai? Everyone and anyone in the city wants to be a part of Jumeirah. It’s a seafront location, southwest of the centre.
Its most famous landmark is the peerless Burj Al Arab. But in Jumeirah, you’ll see elegant villas and quaint commercial hubs with extravagant boutique shops and restaurants. They even have a waterpark.
This is the perfect area in Dubai if you’re looking to host an event that is part luxurious, and part chill. Here it’s about extravagance and downtime, after all!
4. Dubai Marina
The next district of Dubai you need to consider is the Marina. It’s like a city in itself, defined by its impressive high-rise buildings and capacity for adventure.
This is an area in Dubai where you really can experience indulgence and thrills. For starters, some of the fanciest bars and best clubs are here. Then, by the beach, you have a water taxi, jet-skiing, parasailing, skydiving, and more.
So if you’re looking for a fast-paced and cosmopolitan location for your event in Dubai, then the Marina is waiting for you.
5. Deira
One of the oldest areas in Dubai is Deira. It’s a popular destination, close to the airport, and offers lots of activities.
Diera is a great option for hosting your event in Dubai as it showcases the old and new facets of Dubai’s identity.
There are nice parks, golf courses, cosy spots by the Dubai Creek, nostalgic markets, and there’s plenty of culture. The Jameel Arts Centre is particularly special and can’t be missed.
6. The Palm
And last but certainly not least, we have the Palm. This is the area of Dubai you choose when you want to show off.
It’s a huge series of man-made islands shaped like a palm leaf. Here you’ll find some of the most premium properties and hotels the city has to offer, such as the Fairmont, Waldorf Astoria, and the Atlantis.
One of the main attractions is the Palm Fountain. It’s the biggest in the world, covering over 1,335m2, with over 3,000 LED lights, and 7,500 nozzles, with water reaching as high as 105 metres in the sky.
