Euroclear's Hackathon Takes Over a Legendary Paris Cabaret, Staged by Eventflare

Hackathons usually live in office canteens and conference rooms. Euroclear, the Brussels-based financial market infrastructure group, had a different idea for its internal Hackathon Showcase: give the teams a real stage, in a real venue, in Paris.

The brief that reached Eventflare in March was refreshingly clear. One afternoon and evening in May, up to 300 people, in two acts. First, a theatre-style session from 1 PM to 4 PM with a keynote and live demos from the competing teams, played out on a proper stage with a screen. Then the transformation: chairs cleared, the room turned into a demo showcase, a winner crowned around 6 PM, and a celebration with drinks running until midnight.

The Storied Past of the Elysee Montmartre

Eventflare secured the Elysee Montmartre, one of the most storied rooms in Paris. Opened in 1807, it spent its first century as a ballroom and cabaret, and it is remembered as the place where the very first French Cancan was danced. Since the 1980s it has been a landmark concert venue, and after a two and a half year renovation it reopened in 2016 as a 1,000 square metre space that mixes heritage with modern production capability.

For a hackathon built around a keynote, a demo expo, and a party, the venue was a statement: this is not a side project, this is the main event.

Three Languages, One Team

This project was as international as its client. Eventflare's event manager ran the relationship in Italian with the client's internal events team, negotiated with the venue, caterer, and suppliers in French, and kept the paperwork moving in English. An early site visit in Paris brought everyone into the same room from the start, and from there the production came together piece by piece:

  1. Full day-of logistics, technical, and catering planning built around the client's two-act briefing, coordinated directly with the venue's production team
  2. Demo stands for the showcase portion, sourced from a specialist stand builder, with a conference lectern hired from a separate supplier when the stand company could not provide one
  3. Catering through Parisian caterer Curty's, including crew meals for the venue's technicians and hostesses across the lunch and evening shifts
  4. A DJ to carry the winner's ceremony into a party that ran to midnight
  5. Coordination between the client's security team and the venue, including a dedicated security visit ahead of the event
  6. Logistics down to the last box, with the client's materials shipped to the venue and tracked by Eventflare

On the day itself, Eventflare's event manager was on site from the morning, solving the small stuff in real time, down to finding parking in the inner courtyard once the caterer had finished loading in.

Results and Impact

When the day came in May, Euroclear's teams pitched, demoed, and celebrated in a venue that has hosted two centuries of Paris nightlife. The showcase ran through its full arc as planned: keynote, demos, expo, winner, party.

The partnership did not end at midnight. The teams met again in person at the client's Brussels offices for a full debrief that summer, and more than a year later the client came back to Eventflare to start a conversation about spaces for future events in Brussels. That is the quiet compliment that matters most: when the next event is on the horizon, they call again.

Wrapping Up

A hackathon is a bet on your own people, and the setting tells them how much the bet is worth. By staging Euroclear's showcase at the Elysee Montmartre, with one team coordinating venue, stands, catering, security, DJ, and logistics across three languages, Eventflare helped turn an internal competition into an occasion nobody in the room will forget.
